Maison Metcalf is perfectly situated to explore this beautiful corner of France.  A great start to the day is to do an easy cycle to the local boulangerie in nearby La Roche Chalais, a thriving little market town, for freshly baked baguettes & pastries.  It is about a 30 minute cycle there and back and 4 minutes by car.  The church in the village is steeped in history and worth a visit. Five minutes in the opposite direction from Maison Metcalf lies Parcoul. Slightly bigger is Chalais, 10 minutes North through Parcoul with a variety of restaurants Dining Out, clothing shops and markets Markets & Shopping
